Pastor David Moyer was born in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1972, the son of Bill and Claudia Moyer. He was brought up in the community of Murrells Inlet, S.C. He received the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour in January of 1988 at the age of 16. He was saved under the ministry of Pastor Peter Scheer and Harbor Baptist Temple of Surfside Beach, S.C.
David Moyer has been the pastor of Beacon Baptist Church (BBC) since December 1997, and has been a member since 1992. Ordained by Jesus Christ, he received the call to the gospel ministry under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Jerry Atkins, the former pastor of BBC, in the summer of 1992.
Pastor Moyer is a graduate of Calvary Christian School, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and he received ministerial training at Langston Bible Institute of Conway, S.C. In March of 1999, after satisfactory examination by pastors, Dr. Lloyd Jones, Pastor Larue Yarburough, and Dr. Bill Davis, Pastor David Moyer was publicly appointed to the ministry by BBC.
Our pastor is passionate about the word of God. He wholeheartedly believes every word of the Bible, and preaches and teaches absolute confidence in it. He is an ardent advocate of the King James Bible.
His approach to ministry is principally a firm stand upon the Bible as the infallible, inerrant word of God, coupled with a genuine spirit of love and compassion for members of the body of Christ and the unsaved. He earnestly cares for souls and deeply loves the church. Pastor Moyer believes the ministry of the local church is decisively stated in Matthew 28:19,20 (Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.).
Pastor Moyer resolutely believes in the scriptural teaching of pastoral authority, but he does not “lord” over the flock. He believes, preaches, and acknowledges in his ministry, Jesus Christ to be the only Head and Shepherd of BBC. Pastor David, therefore, ministers and administers as Christ’s appointed overseer and under-shepherd of BBC.
When it comes to preaching and teaching the word of God, Pastor Moyer is forthright and uncompromising. Nevertheless, he always endeavors, in all humility, to demonstrate kindness and love when proclaiming God’s truth, and he emphatically seeks to make solid applications to personal life in all his messages. He takes his charge from God in 2 Timothy 4:2 seriously (Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.).
Pastor Moyer and his wife, Kristin, who received Christ as her personal Saviour in April, 1997, have been married for 26 years. They have two grown children (D.J. & Gabe) and one in Heaven with the Lord Jesus (Aurora). Pastor David and Kristin love the Lord and deem it a privilege and an honor to serve Him at Beacon Baptist Church.
